Loes Foundation has donated €500,- to the Heliconia Scholarship Foundation. Loes Foundation is a so-called ‘sleeping’ foundation: it has already achieved its goals, but there are still funds left. Board member Mr. Plantema supports the mission of the Heliconia Scholarship Foundation and has therefore allocated the amount to us. Thank you!
We have also helped Mr. Plantema. For Loes Foundation he had collected a container full of plastic bags with all sorts of beautiful patterns. These were used for sewing raincoats, kitchen aprons and shoulder bags, by first melting the thin bags into thicker material with an iron. His project had already ended, but Mr. Plantema still had many plastic bags left. We arranged for the bags to go to Matroesjka in The Hague, a social project that is part of the Schroeder Foundation. Matroesjka teaches mothers from disadvantaged backgrounds new skills so that they can gain self-confidence and (re-)enter the labour market. The plastic bags are now sewn into new products!
