In May 2017 and 2018, students, graduates, and cooperation partners Mili Chana and Naomi came together to sell second-hand clothes at the annual bazaar at Hati Suci shelter, where some of our students grew up. Everyone had collected clothes to sell in advance. After days of hard work, Rp. 1.744.500,00 (€ 115) was raised in 2017 and Rp. 2.505.500,00 (€ 151) in 2018, which was donated back to the Heliconia Scholarship Foundation. Fantastic!
We intend to organise more activities and events in which all the Heliconia students come together. Since our students were raised in shelters, they often have a different social background than most of their fellow students. That is precisely why it is important for them to exchange personal experiences with youngsters from similar background. Through activities and meetings, the Heliconia Community can grow, enabling graduates and students to work together and support each other where necessary.
