In September 2012, two new students were selected for the Heliconia Scholarship: Veronica and Sherly. Both grew up in the Hati Suci shelter in Jakarta, where they graduated from high school with excellent grades. They are very motivated to continue studying at university. After consultation with our cooperation partner Mili, the board of the shelter and remaining relatives, both registered for the majors of their choice. Veronica now studies Nutritional Science at Universitas Indonesia in Depok, near Jakarta. Sherly studies Psychology at Universitas Tarumanagara in Jakarta.
We are now supporting three students, including Susanah, who studies Accountancy since 2010. In Indonesia, study performance is expressed in percentages ranging from 4% (A) to 0% (E). The IPK score (Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif) is the average of all scores that a student has achieved. Both Veronica and Sherly had an IPK score close to 4% in this first semester, which means that they completed most subjects with an A. Congratulations ladies! Student Susanah has already entered her last year in university. She aspires to graduate in January 2014. Last year her IPK score was excellent, so we are all confident that she will succeed!
