Chairperson Carli Kooper visited our cooperation partner Mili Chana in Jakarta in the summer of 2009. After officially registering the Heliconia Scholarship Foundation in March, it was now the perfect time to meet each other again, discuss our work methods and strengthen the bonds. Together they visited Panti Asuhan Dorkas, the girls' shelter in Jakarta where Mili used to live. Carli and Mili met each other there when Carli came to the shelter to do volunteer work in 2007 (see founding story to read the whole story). It was lovely to meet all the girls again and play games together. Also, it was nice to see Susanah, who is in her final year of high school and will be the first student (apart from Mili) to receive the Heliconia Scholarship! She will start in the academic year 2010-2011.
Mili also showed Carli the Binus University, where she is now studying Psychology with the help of the foundation. She started in 2008 and is very much enjoying her student life. It was lovely to meet each other again and Carli and Mili are looking forward to working and growing together for many more years!
