New students: Yemima and Drop Out II

For the academic year 2017-2018, Yemima was selected for the Heliconia Scholarship and is now studying Pharmacy at Universitas Pancasila in Jakarta. Yemima is enjoying her studies and has fully immersed herself in student life. She was immediately elected ‘Deputy Komisariat Force (WAKOMTA) 2017’, and is therefore responsible for guiding all new students, a challenge! Welcome to the Heliconia Community Yemima, and good luck with your studies! Read about all her university experiences by going to her profile.

Meet Yemima:
My name is Yemima. I was born on Bali in 1999. I am the first child of three siblings. My father passed away when I was at grade 8 in junior high school. Therefore, me and my younger sister went to an orphanage, to have a better life and future. My brother stayed at home with my mother. From high school on, I have been thinking about my future and been dreaming of becoming useful to the community. I graduated at the vocational high school of Pharmacy in Jakarta, and now I’m looking forward to continue my study at university. I know it will be hard work. But I would like to help other people and work in a community with a high work ethic and be professional and independent, after graduation. Studying will enable me to have a brighter future, and I promise I will dedicate myself to making the nation of Indonesia better.

This year, Drop Out II also enrolled in Pharmacy. Unfortunately, she quit after just half a year of studying, due to a lack of motivation and perseverance. That taught us that we needed to reflect on our selection procedure and give better guidance to our students.
